以前，我做什么事只要有一點不順利，就會退縮，有時還會說上幾句垂頭喪氣的話。在學習上，我只要有幾次考試不是很理想就沒有信心。自從讀了這本書之后，我知道了自己的不足，學習上不再因為一兩次不順利而失去信心，而是越考不好，就越要考好。
《老人與海》中，孤獨的老漁夫桑提亞哥已經不僅僅是條硬漢，他身上所體現的精神價值，完全是古希臘悲劇精神的現代回響。在《老人與海》中，海明威終于為他所鐘愛的硬漢找到了靈魂，這靈魂就是人類亙古不變的永恒價值。
