　　土家人之所以重視這兩道菜，是因為以前一年到頭難得吃上幾回肉，糯米也是稀罕東西，因此家家都把這兩道菜當(dāng)作年夜飯展示手藝的機會，同時也是為了犒勞辛勞了一年的家人。

　　令人意外的是，海帶還曾一度成為土家年夜飯的主菜。因為以前土家族聚集地區(qū)吃鹽巴都困難，醫(yī)療條件也差，經(jīng)常有人因缺碘患上大脖子病。為了給家人補碘，土家人就在年夜飯上一道海帶，以補充人體所需的碘。在當(dāng)時的條件下，海帶對土家人來說，真可謂“山珍海味”，經(jīng)常吃根本不可能，因此成了年夜飯上的一道好菜。如今，海帶早已退出年夜飯的“舞臺”。

　　土家人吃過年夜飯后，各家都會燃起一根木柴，大家圍坐聆聽老人講故事，守歲到天亮，名叫“守田埂”，以表達對田地的熱愛。

　　吉林省延邊朝鮮族自治州是我國朝鮮族主要聚居地區(qū)，春節(jié)也是朝鮮族的傳統(tǒng)的和最重要的節(jié)日。朝鮮族的年夜飯有著自己傳統(tǒng)的食品和特色。

　　在年三十那天，朝鮮族婦女都要穿上漂亮的民族盛裝。大多數(shù)家庭從一大早就開始做打糕。盡管現(xiàn)在有賣做打糕的機器，但他們還是喜歡用打糕槌自己動手做，因為感覺味道還是不一樣。
