multiply的用法

　　multiply可用作及物動詞,也可用作不及物動詞。用作及物動詞時,接名詞或代詞作賓語。

　　（1）用作及物動詞

　　If you multiply four by five, the answer is twenty.

　　四乘以五,答案是二十。

　　Let us multiply the height by the width to determine the area.

　　用寬乘以高來確定面積。

　　（2）用作不及物動詞

　　He learned to multiply at the age of five.

　　他五歲學(xué)會做乘法。

　　The little boy can add, subtract and multiply, but cannot divide.

　　那小男孩會做加法、減法和乘法，但不會做除法。

　　3.multiply作“相乘”解時常與介詞by連用。

　　Three multiplied by four makes twelve.

　　3乘以4得12。

　　4.multiply up (v.+adv.) 增加…數(shù)量

　　The costs have been multiplied up many times.

　　費(fèi)用已增加了許多倍。
